Blog five extra credit Anti Bullying

Last week during class we had two students come and show us their anti bullying presentation. They asked the class questions like what bullying meant to us, have we ever been bullied or seen someone that was being bullied. One of the girls wrote a list of types of bullying there were like cyber, physical, harassment, exclusions and so on, on the white board. They also had as do two exercises that at first I was not interested in doing. In the first exercise she got a piece of tape and divided the room. We all stood up and gathered around the line. The object of this exercise was to step on the line if what they called out pertained to you. For example if the girl called out “if you have brothers” then whoever had brothers would stand on the land. Right before we started the first exercise she asked us to look around to see who else was standing on the line with us. So that we could see who had things in common with us. During that exercise I learned a lot about some of my peers. I noticed that although some of the other students in my class did not seem to have anything in common with me, in actuality there were a lot of things we could relate to. Either it being us either having brothers, having been bullied or feelings like we had to change who we were to fit in. This made me feel a little bit more comfortable knowing that other people go through the same kinds of thing I have in my life. The second exercise was my favorite; it was a very positive experience. The two girls took a piece of paper and wrote each of our names down at the top of the paper. Then each paper was to be passed around and each person to write something nice or positive they thought about that person. Whoever’s paper it was could not look at the paper till everyone in the class had written something. I thoroughly enjoyed the chance to tell certain people the nice things I think about them from time to time. When I got my paper back I was happy to see that people actually wrote honest positive genuine comments. As oppose to just writing something to write something like “nice” or “cool”. Because we all know that that isn’t actually what they the think it is just something they wrote because they could not think of anything else to put down. People wrote that my piercing was pretty which made me change my mind to take it out. Some also wrote that I was confident which shocked me because although I come off that way I can be pretty harsh on myself sometimes. I have never been asked to do anything like these two exercises before, so it was very refreshing. As oppose to the typical anti bullying tactics they try to present students now. Overall the experience was fun and I think they should do more exercises like that in high school and middle school when bullying is more of a problem.

Blog four

An average school day for me if it where 1981 would be bomb. I would wake up to my radio playing girls just wanna have fun. I would put on my pink leg warmers my cut off tee and make sure my hair is as big as possible. My makeup would include blue eye shadow and pink lipstick with hoop earrings and chunky bracelets. I would drink orange juice and eat cereal that has Mr.T on the box. I make sure to not miss my bus and go wait at the bus stop. While on the bus i listen to my CD player. Once I'm at school I make my way to first period, and make sure to Post it note everything important in my history book. While my teacher talks a little bit about the launching of the Columbia space shuttle. When I got to lunch I have some oreo's and a Peanut butter and jelly sandwich. While I talk to my friends about the new video game donkey Kong. When school finally gets out I hurry home to watch my favorite show the smurfs. While im watching I see a commercial advertising that new movie the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. When I get tired I go to bed.

Food ad

I consider a strong argument to be a good advertising strategy. Once you present a good point then the consumer is more likely to be enticed to buy whatever you’re selling. I buy products from either my experience or from habit, what my mother usually gets at Publix. In some cases for me the generic brand is much tastier then, let’s says the Quaker chewy bars. But on other occasion’s Ben and jerry’s ice cream is something I rather buy over Publix brand. Celebrities do influence me to try a product, but if the product doesn’t deliver I just don’t buy it. If I see Katy Perry munching on lucky charms ill more likely wants to try it. Although if I find lucky charms to be gross ill stop buying the product and look for a less expensive and tastier cereal. While looking for a Food ad I came across a dunkin donuts ad. The argument the ad presents is that their food is fast but healthy or "real". I’m not sure what they are getting at when they say real but it could be perceived as being genuine or not over processed. Dunkin donuts is known for their awesome donuts and this might also play a factor in getting someone to go their not just for donuts. But as well as food or drinks. The ad is both misleading and at the same time truthful. It presents a certain argument but not a clear one, so what they are trying to get across is unclear. Thus making it hard for the consumer to exactly know what they mean when they say "real". For example it shows two of their food products that look greasy and not too healthy along with an ice tea. I am not sure what is so real about the food but I guess there trying to state that maybe the egg isn’t refrozen or prepackaged or reheated. On the other hand they could be stating that the food is hardy and filling when they say "real". This ad is not to clear and I am unsure as to what particularly argument they are trying to get across.

footprint

After I took the footprint calculator and it calculated for me to live it would take 4.9 planets. My results also stated that it takes 21.6 global acres of the earths productive area to support my lifestyle.I could reduce some of this by recycling more paper products as well as eating less meat then I usually eat. Driving less would also cut down the amount of gas and pollution. I also decided on having a much healthier eating habits. In order to eat less beef product or pork.I also plan on switching from plastic Tupperware to glass.

Introduction

I'm Jessica if you don’t already know that. I’m eighteen years old and was born in Pembroke Pines, Florida which is near Miami. When I was in high school I worked for a chiropractor’s office as an assistant. I also went to three different high schools including Pembroke Pines charter, arch bishop McCarthy and everglades. I'm obsessed with anything hello kitty or anything cute. Going out and dancing with friends is what my weekends usually consist of. My biggest fear is the ocean, although I love the beach going in the water freaks me out I will have a panic attack depending how far I’m out in the water. When I was thirteen I was stung by a Portuguese man o war and it made me hate water ever since. If I had an allergic reaction, which some people have I could have possibly died. Other then that, I’m the type of person that is very opinionated and likes to fight for what I believe in. I don't take life or myself to seriously I love to laugh off things and make a joke out of a serious situation. It can get me through a tough time and make a bad situation better. I love to blog daily to express myself and post things I find amusing. Singing is really my only hobby; I use to take lessons but stopped when I moved to Fort Myers. I also hope to learn how to hoop and fire dance by the end of the year. Chocolate is something I have at least once a day if there isn’t any chocolate in my pantry I’ll make the trip to Walgreens or target. My boyfriend David and I have been dating for two and half years. We met sophomore year in high school and been together since, he is one of the important things in my life next to my family and friends. My little brother is also called David as well as my dad, we always joke about me having so many David’s in my life.:)I love my parents more then they know, although we don’t always see eye to eye I am more then thankful for their love and support.Overall I'm super excited for this semester in comp one I have a feeling it is going to be much different then my other courses.
